As I write, the sun is out and there is a gentle breeze coming through the open door. Suddenly it's Summer!
And I love what this means in terms of baking. Banished are thoughts of soup and comforting buns, and in their place come ideas for barbecues and picnics.
But this is the time of year when you want to be out there enjoying it, not slaving away in a hot kitchen. So next time you see a long-range forecast that looks like it's going to be a scorcher, plan ahead.
Most of these can be made in a morning, and if you use the autolyse method you don't even need to stand and knead, just make your dough, get a cuppa and sit in the deckchair while it does its thing.
